Basecamp Mission Trip | October 28-November 5, 2024

Dates: October 28 - November 5, 2024

Trip Details:
Located in the La Mosquitia region of Honduras, CORE Missions has 72 acres known as Basecamp. Having just acquired this property in October, 2022, we are in the final stages of getting the buildings and property back to a position where they can be used as an outreach tool for the region. It will eventually be a place of training and equipping national pastors to serve in remote villages in eastern Honduras and Nicaragua. By going on this trip, you will play a major role in the development of this exciting ministry.

You will be working to finalizing our bunk house by painting, running electrical, setting up bathrooms, building bunk beds, and building a water tower. You will also have the opportunity to minister in remote villages near the Basecamp property.

On the tail end of the trip you will spend a day on the beautiful island of Roatan. A short 50 minute flight from Puerto Lempira, your trip will end with some down time near beautiful beaches and water.

 Tips for the Trip

  • Please pack light. Once we get to Honduras, the domestic flights are very small, limiting our total luggage weight to 40 lbs per person. On these flights all our luggage will be checked, other than our backpacks. There is no such thing as a carry-on bag.

Please pack at least one full days worth of clothes in your backpack. We have charted a plane for the domestic flight, but luggage capacity isn't large. Many times some bags don't arrive until the second day, so you will want a fresh pair of clothes in case your luggage is delayed a bit.

Security will likely be tighter on the domestic flights. Do not carry anything in your personal bags that might be confiscated. Pack everything in your checked bag you do not need for the short flights.

    Please bring your own toiletries.

Do not worry about bedding or towels.

We have bug spray and sun block, please do not bring these items with you.

  • Pack comfortable/light clothes.

There will never be a need for a tie.

While at Basecamp you will likely be getting in and out of small boats. Wear shoes you don't mind getting wet.

    Bring something to swim in.

Casual pants, t-shirts or fishing-style shirts are perfect for daily activities.

Shorts are fine to wear, we just ask that you have a pair of pants to wear while visiting villages.

You will want to wear sandals in the evenings. Never plan to go barefoot.

We advise having fresh undergarments for each day of the trip, wile also planning to re-wear your outer garments a couple times.

  • While in Roatan (first and last day of trip), you can use your personal credit card or USD to purchase snacks and souvenirs. We suggest you do not buy souvenirs until the last day of the trip.

  • Our stops are very safe, and we take extra precautions to ensure your safety. However, as with any travel, it is always wise to be aware of your surroundings. Please do not carry your phone in your hands while walking in public areas. The best place for your phone is in your front pocket.

Regarding electronics; if you do not have to have it, we suggest you do not bring it on the trip at all.

  • The only time you will have wifi service while in Honduras is when you are the hotel in Roatan, which is the first and last day of the trip. If you need cell reception while not at the hotel in Roatan, please contact your carrier ahead of time to review options.

If you plan to use your credit or debit card, we advise you contact your banking institution to notify them of your travel plans.

Laundry service will not available. However, you will be able to hand-wash and hang out clothes to dry while at Basecamp.
